I am a mom of 3 Girls, including a set of twins, and an Army Veteran.
A few years after leaving the Army I fell into a slump and realized that I needed to get active. I started working out on my own, tried a few things but it wasn’t until I grabbed a barbell that I found something I truly enjoyed.
As a former Collegiate athlete, Cheerleading and Softball, I knew the importance of strength training. After becoming a middle & high school competitive cheerleading coach I had to learn more effective ways to train my teams. I became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. My daughters were introduced to the sport of cheerleading and I began coaching for Reisterstown Rec Cheer teams.
At the age of 43 I wanted to become a better weightlifter, found a personal trainer and they introduced me to CrossFit. I actually competed in my first CrossFit competition before even taking a CrossFit class. I was very intimidated by CrossFit classes but I found the workouts to be a great challenge. I learned that I could be healthier and stronger if I were to let go of my fear and this led to me joining the Thrive program at Outsiders in 2019. Everyone at Outsiders was so encouraging and supportive that once the gym re-opened during the pandemic I started CrossFit classes. I was becoming even more fit; I was eating and sleeping better, lifting heavier and was ready to compete as a Masters Olympic weightlifter.
In 2020, I earned my CF-LV 1 and began coaching Thrive. Once I started coaching CrossFit classes, I wanted to become an even better coach for our members. In April of 2022, I took the CF-LV 2 course, and the following month I earned my USAW-Level 1. I wanted to be able to help new and seasoned athletes in our gym. Late 2022, I ruptured my achilles and during all of my down time I began to study for the CF-LV 3 Exam and earned my CF-LV 3 in May of 2023. Sometimes I can’t believe all that I am able to do! I even had the opportunity to coach my youngest daughter in her first National Weightlifting meet! I love to serve, learn, educate and have fun at the same time and as a coach I get to do that in every class.
